Moisturizing
Once you’ve thoroughly cleaned your skin using the right products for your skin type, moisturizing is the next step. However, some people feel that they are either too young to start using a moisturizer or that their skin is too oily, but that is not the case. Your skin needs a moisturizer to keep it soft and supple. Think about how your hands feel if you forget to put on lotion for a few days. Typically, they will start to feel dry and maybe even start to hurt. Just as your hands dry out without lotion, your face will also start to get too dry and it may appear flaky and start to itch.
If you are someone that has oily skin, then you may be hesitant to moisturize out of fear of making your skin even oilier. This is a common myth associated with oily skin, but actually, if you don’t moisturize, it could cause your skin to produce even more natural oils to make up for the lack of moisture. With that in mind, if you have oily skin, it’s a good idea to get a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that won’t block your pores.
How Often Should You Wash?
Washing your face too often can dry out your skin, especially if you’re not compensating with a moisturizer. That being said, the number of times you wash your face in a day depends on you and what activities you do throughout the day. It’s a good idea to rinse your face in the morning, but it is also acceptable to wash your face if you like to start the day with that fresh, clean feeling. No matter if you wash or just rinse your face in the morning, it’s a good idea to always cleanse your face at night to get rid of the day’s dirt and any makeup.
Don’t Wear Makeup to Bed
It may be tempting to leave on your makeup overnight, especially if you’re too tired or you want to save time in the morning. However, if your skin is prone to acne, one of the causes could be your second-day makeup. Leaving makeup on overnight can clog your pores and give you acne. For this reason, it’s a good idea to take off your makeup each night and wash your face.
